Tuta Watch

Privacy policy.

What the app uses, what stays on your watch, and where your mail goes.

Last updated: September 25, 2026

Tuta Watch is an independent Apple Watch client developed by Anthony Saint-Martin. It is not affiliated with Tuta. For questions about this app or requests concerning data held by its developer, contact support@watchstore.app.

You need an existing Tuta account. Tuta operates that account and its mail service under Tuta's own privacy statement; this page describes the separate Tuta Watch app.

1. Account and mail

The app uses the account address, password and, when required, a one-time code to sign in through Tuta's service. It then uses resumable session credentials to keep you signed in. It requests your folders, message content, attachments and related metadata to display mail and carry out actions you choose, such as reading, sending, replying, forwarding, archiving or moving a message to Trash.

Tuta Watch communicates directly with Tuta's service. Watchstore does not operate a mail relay or store your inbox on a Watchstore server. Tuta and the recipients of mail you send process information under their own arrangements. Regular email to external recipients may not have the same end-to-end encryption as mail sent within Tuta; choose the delivery mode deliberately.

2. Information on your watch

Resumable session material and the key used to protect the local mail cache are stored in the watchOS Keychain. Cached mail and the local search index are stored as AES-GCM ciphertext on the watch. A small shared App Group store holds unread counts, update times and an opaque account identifier so the WidgetKit complication can show a count; it does not hold message bodies.

Local data is kept between launches so the app can restore your session and show previously synchronized information. Signing out removes the selected account's local session, cache and unread-count snapshot. Other accounts you have added remain until you sign out of each one. Signing out does not delete your Tuta account or messages held by Tuta or recipients; use Tuta's account controls for those requests.

3. Optional features

  • Notifications: if you allow them, the app may generate local new-mail alerts after a permitted background refresh. The alert contains a count, not a sender, subject or message body. watchOS decides when background work runs, so alerts are not guaranteed to arrive immediately.
  • Photos and attachments: photos you select for a message are used to prepare the attachment you choose to send. Attachments you open or share are handled on the watch and by the system sharing destination you select.
  • Complication: the optional watch-face widget reads the local unread-count snapshot. You can remove it from your watch face at any time.

This version does not register your device with a Watchstore remote-push gateway for Tuta mail. It uses local alerts and watchOS background refresh instead.

4. Support, retention and choices

If you email support, the developer receives your email address, message and any attachment you send in order to respond. Please do not send passwords, one-time codes, session credentials or unredacted private mail. Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle your request and related security or legal obligations; it does not have a single automatic deletion period.

The app does not include advertising or a third-party advertising tracker. Tuta's service, Apple platform services and any recipients or sharing destinations you choose may process data separately from the app developer.

To ask about information held by the Tuta Watch developer, or request its access or deletion where applicable, email support@watchstore.app. We may need to verify your request. For your Tuta account and mail held by Tuta, contact Tuta through its own account and privacy channels.

5. Changes

Changes to this policy will be published on this page with an updated date. For questions about Tuta Watch, contact support@watchstore.app.
